63rd Street Subdivision Hearing Pushed to November

Chris Ennis

Just a few short updates from the Pro-RURAL Alliance:

  • The Planning Commission hearing on the application for a subdivision at 63rd Street/Niwot Rd has been delayed from Oct 16 to November 20, at the request of the applicants.  A block of speakers opposing the subdivision was all ready to go on Oct 16, and is again gearing up for the new date.    The group seeks your support in attending the hearing if possible, and either speaking yourself or donating your speaking time to the group.  Over 970 people have signed the opposition petition.  See the Stop63rdStreetSubdivision website for details.

  • Despite opposition from the local community and beyond, the application for the Pivot Solar Energy Facility (Docket SU-24-0002)  was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on October 10.  The proposal is to construct a high-density industrial solar farm on agricultural lands of national importance in close proximity to residential areas.  The location is 9215 Arapahoe Road, bordered on two sides by large residential developments.

  • Still no decision on neighbors' legal proceeding regarding the Kanemoto development at Airport Road and Diagonal Highway. The Court is reviewing the case for merit and will decide if the Boulder County decision to terminate the Conservation Easement should be vacated.  The opposition group (KARES, Keep Airport Road Environmental and Safe) has more information on the KARES website.

  • The proposal to develop a tennis complex on open space off of Highway 42 and South Boulder Road (Louisville/Lafayette area) did not garner the Lafayette city council's support and is being dropped by its proponent, Steve Leblang.  See coverage in the Colorado Hometown Weekly at this link.
